Hannes is a prosthetic hand developed by INAIL and the Italian Institute of Technology, designed by ddpstudio. It is able to restore over 90% of the lost functionality in people with upper limb amputation. Naturalness of shape, movements, posture and rotation axes, give Hannes the feeling of a real hand: the final user perceives it not like an external instrument but rather as an integral part of the body. Hannes tester summarized the value of this innovation with the best words: "Since I use this hand, my way of thinking has changed. With other myoelectric prothesis I used to give priority to the left hand. Now I changed my behavior and I can really share tasks between left and right hand, as if I had two natural hands!"

An iterative design process has allowed to integrate the components in the desired shape, ensuring an optimal appearance.Hannes revolutionary mechanism allow the robotic hand to adapt both to the object's shapes and to any kind of external stresses, keeping at the same time the production cost much lower than every other myoelectric prosthesis on the market. No other hand on the market guarantees the same proportions, functionality, beauty, strenght, flexibility and cost all at the same time. The A.I. algorithms behind the control system allow users to control the hand just thinking of the movement they would do with their own limb. Hannes is the amazing result of 4 years of collaborative research and development, carried on by ddpstudio design consultancy, IIT mechanical engineers, software and electronics engineers, INAIL technicians and final users.
